DeCafe History The idea for the Moorestown DeCafe was born in the living room of one of the founding couples in 1994. The concept was simple: provide intimate live music performances on a regular basis. Shows were seen as a way to support and encourage artists who are not necessarily part of the mainstream music industry but who have voices that need to be heard. It also was envisioned as a rare suburban venue allowing audiences to experience live musical performances in an cozy atmosphere without the smoke and noise of a bar. Today, a group of 20 or so long-time friends and more recent acquaintances take turns hosting the musical shows. WIth its history of 16 years of hosting shows, the Moorestown DeCafe is one of the longest running, volunteer-based coffeehouse concert series in the country. |
