DeCafe History

The idea for the Moorestown DeCafe was born in the living room of one of the founding couples in 1994. The concept was simple: provide intimate live music performances on a regular basis. Shows were seen as a way to support and encourage artists who are not necessarily part of the mainstream music industry but who have voices that need to be heard. It also was envisioned as a rare suburban venue allowing audiences to experience live musical performances in an cozy atmosphere without the smoke and noise of a bar.

Today, a group of 20 or so long-time friends and more recent acquaintances take turns hosting the musical shows.

The Moorestown DeCafe is one of the longest running coffeehouse venues in the Philadelphia area.
